“For Obstetrics and Gynaecology, our mission is to increase the number of specialist doctors in Eastern Indonesia. The need for specialist doctors remains very high, while their distribution is uneven,” explained Prof. Hendy in his statement on Saturday (January 24, 2026).

According to data from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), Indonesia still faces a shortage of specialist doctors, especially outside Java.
The specialist doctor ratio in Indonesia is still below ideal compared to WHO standards, particularly in obstetrics and surgery, which form the backbone of referral healthcare services.
The presence of the Specialist Doctor Education Program at Ciputra University, supported by the construction of a new educational facility, namely a dedicated tower for the Faculty of Medicine (FK) at Ciputra University, has an impactful campus that provides strategic national solutions to improve the quality and equity of healthcare services in Indonesia.***
