Danantara Ready to Attract Foreign Investors, Chairman of the East Java Professors Association Reminds of This Important Point

SURABAYA, iNEWSSURABAYA.ID – The Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) has officially commenced operations, playing a vital role in managing and optimising the country’s strategic investments. This institution is expected to be a driving force for national economic growth while attracting significant foreign investment.

According to Prof. Dr Murpin Josua Sembiring, S.E., M.Si., an observer of national and international economic strategy from Ciputra University Surabaya, the selection of BPI Danantara’s leadership must be based on professionalism and free from corruption, collusion, and nepotism (KKN).

“BPI Danantara is a state investment institution tasked with optimally managing national wealth. Therefore, this institution must be staffed by individuals with high competence in the fields of investment and economics, including academics,” said Murpin.

The Chairman of the East Java chapter of the Indonesian Professors Association (DPD PERGUBI) stated that the institution, which was inaugurated on October 22, 2024, is led by Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad and has a significant responsibility in improving Indonesia’s competitiveness on the global stage. Some of the key sectors that BPI Danantara focuses on investing in include:

1. Industrial Downstreaming – Increasing the added value of domestic products through further processing.
2. Infrastructure – Construction of toll roads, ports, airports, and modern transportation facilities.
3. Food Security – Development of the agriculture, agribusiness, and fisheries sectors to support national food sovereignty.
4. Energy Security – Investment in renewable energy and new energy sources.
5. Digital Industry – Driving digital transformation through information and communication technology.

“One of BPI Danantara’s main tasks is to establish strategic partnerships with potential countries to attract significant investment,” added Murpin.

BPI Danantara is targeting collaboration with several countries that have advantages in various industrial and technology sectors, including: China: Investment in manufacturing, smart transportation, electric vehicles (EVs), and renewable energy such as solar, wind, and nuclear fusion; Singapore: Focus on high-tech manufacturing and pharmaceutical industries; the United States and Europe: Investment in the infrastructure and digital industry sectors; and Japan: Development of the automotive, electronics, and advanced manufacturing industries, including investment in electric vehicles (EVs).

“With an aggressive investment policy and conducive regulations, BPI Danantara is expected to attract significant capital to support national priority projects,” explained Murpin.

BPI Danantara is targeted to manage the assets of several large state-owned enterprises, including Bank Mandiri, BRI, BNI, PLN, MIND ID, Pertamina, and Telkom Indonesia, with total assets estimated at $600 billion and an initial capital of IDR 1,000 trillion (approximately $61 billion).

With the right investment strategy, this institution is expected to:
– Increase Indonesia’s economic growth by up to 8% per year.

– Strengthening the rupiah exchange rate to Rp5,000 per dollar in the next 5-10 years.
– Creating millions of new jobs in various industrial sectors.

To carry out its mandate, BPI Danantara will require experts in various fields, including:
– Economics & Finance – Investment analysis and portfolio management.
– Engineering & Infrastructure – Strategic project development.
– Energy & Natural Resources – Energy and mining sector management.
– Information Technology – Digital transformation and industrial innovation.
– Law & Regulation – Legal compliance and investment risk mitigation.
