February 23, 2025
KILASJATIM.COM, SURABAYA – To emphasize the importance of health, while also supporting the government’s program of free health check-ups and raising public awareness of its importance, the Faculty of Medicine (FK) and Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) of Ciputra University (UC) held a mass medical treatment at the Randegansari Village Hall, Gersik, on Sunday (February 23, 2025).
The activity, initiated by Dr Denys Putra Alim, Sp.F.M., a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine (FK) of Ciputra University, and Dr Eveline Yulia Darmadi, Sp.KG., a lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), aims to provide free health services and treatment to the community, especially in preparation for the month of Ramadan. Involving doctors from the Faculty of Medicine (FK) and Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), alumni of the Faculty, and medical and dental students, this activity demonstrates the Ciputra University academic community’s commitment to public health.
Batsal (Mass Treatment) activities include: general health and dental checkups for the community, mass treatment that includes medical consultation services, and the distribution of medications. Medications such as oral medications, eye drops, and topical medications are provided for minor ailments. If further treatment is found, patients will be referred to a hospital. Minor procedures, such as minor surgery, will be performed on-site.
This Batsal activity is expected to provide tangible benefits to the community by raising awareness of the importance of disease prevention and maintaining dental and oral health. Furthermore, for the participating students of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, this activity provides Early Clinical Exposure, allowing them to interact directly with patients under the guidance of alumni and supervision of lecturers.
As part of the annual agenda of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of Ciputra University, this activity is targeted to serve 80 residents of Randegansari Village, Gersik. Preparations took three months, involving a series of steps, including field surveys, coordination with relevant parties, location mapping, and identification of endemic diseases to ensure the availability of needed medications. Mrs Wasi’ah (51), a resident of Radengansari, expressed her joy at participating in the Batsal. “I’m happy to be able to get a checkup and receive free medication. I have diabetes, and I received medication and instructions on how to follow it during my fast. I also had my eyes checked,” he explained.
With a spirit of collaboration and concern, the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Dentistry at Ciputra University hope that Batsal will become a regular event that benefits the community. (tok)
