Komplikasi terberat <em>osteporosis<\/em> adalah peningkatanresiko patah tulang panggul, tulang punggung, dan tulang lengan bawah,<\/p>\n<p>Sebagai jaringan hidup, rangka tulang terus tumbuh hingga mencapai kekuatan dan ukuran puncak massa tulang pada sekitar awal usia 30 tahun. Kemudian tulang mulai menipis secara alami tanpa ada kemungkinan untuk menghambat prosesnya. Oleh karena tiu, semakin padat tulang kita, semakin besar pula tabungan untuk menghadapi pengeorposan. Terutama pada wanita muda harus waspada dan disarankan mencegah <em>osteoporosis<\/em> sejak usia anak-anak dan remaja.<\/p>\n<p>Layaknya tanaman, tulang perlu terus dipupuk dan dipelihara dengan asupan kalsium, vitamin D, dan protein yang cukup. Kalsium didapat dari susu dan produk olahan susu seperti keju, yogurt, dan sayuran hijau seperti kale dan brokoli. Sementara itu, sinar matahari pagi, susu yang difortifikasi dengan vitamin D, dan ikan salmon merupakan sumber vitamin D. Sebaliknya, perempuan dianjurkan berpantang rokok serta minuman berakohol. Sebuah studi mendapatkan bahwa perempuan yang merekok satu pak sehari sepanjang masa dewasanya mengalami reduksi densitas tulang sebesar 5 hingga 10 persen pada masa <em>menopause<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Selain nutrisi, diperlukan pula latihan fisik yang memadai. Latihan fisik berbeda dengan aktivitas pergi berbelanja atau naik turun tangga. Latihan fisik ditujukan mempertahankan kebugaran fisik, yang merupakan kemampuan menjalankan aktivitas dengan enerji tinggi, tanpa kelelahan berlebih, dan masih memiliki cukup enerji untuk berkegiatan lain. Latihan fisik diketahui dapat memperbaiki massa tulang pada wanita yang mebelum <em>menopause<\/em>. Berolah raga juga dapat memperkuat otot keseimbangan untuk menjaga posisi tubuh agar tidak rentan jatuh.<\/p>\n<p>Penderita pengeroposan tulang sebaiknya menghindari komplikasi dan mencegeah kemungkinan terjadinya patah tulang. Sebaiknya pasien menyingkirkan karpet, kabel listrik atau benda apa pun yang berpotensi menyebabkan pasien terpeleset atau tersandung, baik pula menyediakan penerangan yang cukup serta mengunjungo dokter mata untuk mendapatkan pengelihatan yang optimal.<\/p>\n<p>Kendati demikian, patut diketahui seiring perkembangan ilmu pengobatan <em>osteoporosis<\/em> bisa diterapi.
