Media tidak bisa lagi mengandalkan pada pendapatan iklan yang terus merosot. Meskipun begitu, era digital juga memunculkan peluang atau model bisnis baru yang bisa dioptimalkan.<\/p>\n<p>Disrupsi digital membuat media massa tidak lagi menguasai hulu hingga hilir bisnis informasi ini. Media massa sebagai produsen konten hanya menguasai hulu, sedangkan hilir terutama model bisnis dan distribusi konten dikuasai platform digital global. Kemunculan sejumlah agregator media dan <em>influencer<\/em> juga turut \u201cmenarik\u201d iklan yang semula masuk ke media.<\/p>\n<p>Dalam ekosistem media yang demikian, transformasi digital tidak hanya harus dilakukan dalam cara media menyebarluaskan konten, tetapi juga dalam cara mendapatkan sumber-sumber pendapatan baru di luar iklan. \u201cIklan tidak lagi <em>direct sales<\/em> (penjualan langsung). Pola ini pelan-pelan berubah, kini lebih ke iklan <em>program-matic<\/em> (penggunaan perangkat lunak untuk membeli ruang \u00a0iklan). Ini yang bekerja <em>machine to machine<\/em>,\u201d kata Suwarjono, Pemimpin Redaksi Suara.com, dalam diskusi daring yang diseleranggakan Aliansi Jurnalis Independen (AJI) Indonesia, di Jakarta, Kamis (18\/2\/2021).<\/p>\n<p>Menurut Suwarjono, 70-80 persen media daring kini mengandalkan model bisnis ini karena lebih efisien sumber daya manusia dan menjanjikan dari sisi pendapatan. \u201cBisa mengunakan Google Adsense atau Google ADX. Sementara untuk (distribusi) konten berita bisa menggunakan Facebook Instant Articles, cukup taruh di halaman Facebook, mereka yang akan mengelola iklannya,\u201d katanya.<\/p>\n<p>Kunci sukses dalam kedua model bisnis tersebut pada tingginya lalu lintas (<em>traffic<\/em>) berita. Untuk ini, media harus mempunyai strategi dan mengenali karakter distributor, yaitu platform digital global, agar konten yang didistribusikan mendapatkan <em>traffic <\/em>tinggi.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Transformasi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Transformasi konten juga menjadi strategi bagi media yang menerapkan model bisnis berlangganan atau konten berbayar (<em>subscriber<\/em>). Harian <em>Kompas <\/em>yang sejak Februari 2017 menerbitkan edisi digital model berbayar melalui Kompas.id berupaya memperkaya konten yang menjadi pembeda dengan konten di media cetak.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKami menghadirkan konten yang lebih variative untuk Kompas.id, ficer-ficer yang lebih mendalam seperti Tutur Visual, Reportase Langsung seperti pada saat penangkapan Joko S Tjandra (terdakwa kasus Bank Bali), juga Riset,\u201d kata Redaktur Pelaksana Harian <em>Kompas <\/em>Adi Prinantyo.<\/p>\n<p>Selain itu, harian <em>Kompas <\/em>juga memproduksi liputan investigasi yang beberapa di antaranya berdampak memengaruhi kebijakan pemerintah. Hasil liputan ini dipublikasikan di platform cetak dan Kompas.id.
