Yakni, Hans Rachman, Jennifer Hamdani, Ribka Jonatan, dan Chelsea Angela. Karya itu pun berhasil mendapat <em>gold<\/em> dan\u00a0<em>special award<\/em> dalam ajang International Research and Innovation Technology Competition 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Joko menjelaskan, ide tersebut berawal dari program kreativitas mahasiswa (PKM) yang mengharuskan anak didiknya bisa memanfaatkan limbah sebagai bahan pangan. &#8220;Mereka akhirnya pergi ke pengolahan tahu dan tempe. Di sana limbahnya berupa cairan,&#8221; terangnya kemarin (9\/1)<\/p>\n<p>Limbah cairan itu kemudian dimurnikan sehingga menyisakan yang mengandung protein saja. Protein itu berasal dari kedelai yang merupakan bahan utama pembuatan tahu dan tempe. &#8220;Hasil inovasi yang pertama menjadi\u00a0<em>nata de soya<\/em>. Mungkin orang lebih kenal dengan\u00a0<em>nata de coco<\/em> yang berasal dari kelapa. Tapi, yang ini dari kedelai,&#8221; lanjutnya.<\/p>\n<p><em>Nata de soya\u00a0<\/em>itu kemudian menjadi bahan campuran minuman yang dibuat secara organik. Dari situ, dosen yang juga menjadi kepala lab mikrobiologi prodi tersebut mengatakan bahwa inovasi tidak boleh berhenti. &#8220;Kami cari pasangannya kalau inovasinya terkait dengan minuman. Akhirnya muncul ide buat\u00a0<em>edible straw<\/em> ini,&#8221; ujarnya.<\/p>\n<p><em>Edible straw\u00a0<\/em>dibuat dengan formula yang sama dengan\u00a0<em>nata de soya.\u00a0<\/em>Tapi, ada tahapan yang berbeda. Namun, yang pasti, dua hal tersebut merupakan produk organik dan alami. &#8220;Sedotan ini bisa dipakai minum kurang lebih satu jam sebelum ia leleh. Kalau sudah leleh, bisa dimakan. Rasanya kayak jeli atau\u00a0<em>nata de coco<\/em> tadi,&#8221; jelasnya.<\/p>\n<p>Inovasi itu kemudian dibawa ke ajang International Research and Innovation Technology Competition di Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia pada September lalu. Bersaing dengan lebih dari 10 negara lain, inovasi yang berjudul\u00a0<em>Bioplastic-Based Edible Straw Prepared with Bacterial Cellulose\u00a0<\/em>itu berhasil membawa emas dan penghargaan spesial.<\/p>\n<p>Joko menjelaskan, untuk bisa meraih\u00a0<em>gold<\/em>, ada tiga poin yang harus dipastikan. Yakni, soal hak paten, publikasi, dan komersialisasi. &#8220;Kami sudah mengantongi hak paten dan publikasi. Tinggal komersialisasinya memang. Untuk\u00a0<em>special award\u00a0<\/em>itu karena inovasi ini dianggap unik dan belum ada kompetitornya,&#8221; imbuhnya.
