Connecting Education and Industry: AppliedHE Xchange 2025 and the Story of Collaboration between Universitas Ciputra and Universitas Udayana

Denpasar, 26 February 2025

AppliedHE Xchange: UNS @ Bali 2025 is an international forum themed “Where Education Meets Industry for a Future that Works.” Held at the InterContinental Bali Resort, the event brings together academics and industry professionals from the Asia-Pacific region to discuss how higher education can become more relevant to the workplace. Approximately 180 participants, including doctoral students and representatives from institutions such as Universitas Ciputra, actively shared their experiences and introduced their institutions at the event.

From this discussion, many important lessons were learned, such as the importance of collaboration between universities and industry, the development of digital skills, and innovation in teaching. In addition, building international networks and campus branding are also considered key to preparing graduates who are ready to compete globally. AppliedHE Xchange is the perfect platform to strengthen connections and update educational strategies for a better future.

This is increasingly important given that a university's international reputation plays a major role in attracting students, lecturers, and researchers from around the world. This reputation is determined not only by academic quality, but also by contributions to research, international collaboration, and community service. As a relatively young university, Universitas Ciputra shows development and potential, particularly in internationalization and building a better reputation in the future.

After the AppliedHE Xchange event on February 26, 2025, Universitas Ciputra conducted a benchmarking study on internationalization at Universitas Udayana (UNUD) located in Denpasar, Bali. The benchmarking study was attended by representatives from the Universitas Udayana's Learning Development and Quality Assurance Agency (LP3M), including Prof. Dr. Ir. I Made Alit Karyawan Salain, DEA, as Secretary of LP3M; Prof. Dr. Ni Luh Nyoman Seri Malini, SS, M. Hum as the External Quality Assurance Center, Ainul Ghurri, ST, MT, Ph.D. as the Internationalization Center, and I Nyoman Sumiarta, S.H. as the Administrative Coordinator, and representatives from Universitas Ciputra, Lenny Rosita as Head of the Quality Assurance Department, Deborah Giovanny as Vice Head of the Quality Assurance Department, and Stephani Valentina as Quality Improvement Specialist. During the benchmarking study between Universitas Ciputra and Universitas Udayana, valuable insights were exchanged regarding how two higher education institutions in Indonesia manage their international reputation.

The presentation delivered by Universitas Udayana gave Universitas Ciputra new insights. In the presentation, Universitas Ciputra explained various important aspects related to the activities and role of LP3M as a quality assurance at the Universitas Udayana level and in assisting the rectorate leadership in opening study program visits, the SPMI process, and internal and external international programs.

Conversely, Universitas Ciputra was also asked to share information regarding the FIBAA international accreditation process for the Fakultas Pariwisata Universitas Udayana, which is currently preparing for the FIBAA international accreditation visit.

This kind of collaboration not only strengthens the network between universities in Indonesia, but also encourages improvements in the quality of higher education nationwide. Through this benchmarking study, both universities share experiences and knowledge to strengthen their positions on the international stage.
