Form of Higher Education

Higher education has a strategic role in preparing competent and competitive human resources. There are several types of higher education recognized in Indonesia, namely universities, institutes, colleges, polytechnics and academies. Each of these forms has different characteristics and focuses, but all have the same goal of providing quality education. The types of education offered by tertiary institutions include:

  1. Academic Education: Focuses on mastering knowledge and developing theories in specific fields. It usually consists of bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs that emphasize academic research and development.
  2. Vocational Education: More oriented towards practical and technical skills that are directly applicable to the world of work. These programs include applied diplomas and bachelor's degrees that equip students with specific expertise according to industry needs.
  3. Profession Education: Aims to prepare graduates who are professionals in a particular field, such as doctors, lawyers, and accountants. This education comes with a legally recognized professional certification for practice in the field.

The programs offered by universities range from Diploma to Doctoral Programs, depending on the needs and interests of the students. Each level of education has a curriculum designed to produce graduates who are able to compete at the national and international levels, and are able to innovate in their respective fields.
