23 Agustus 2025

Following the TrainIQA I ASEAN-QA Workshop held in Bangkok, Thailand, on March 17–21, 2025, the TrainIQA II ASEAN-QA Workshop will be held again in Potsdam and Berlin, Germany, on August 18–22, 2025. The organization of these two workshops is part of a series of Training on Internal Quality Assurance (TrainIQA) programs developed and implemented within the framework of ASEAN-QA.

The TrainIQA ASEAN-QA program is a collaboration between the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Rectors' Conference (HRK). This program, which is part of the Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies (DIES) Programme, has been entrusted to the Centre for Quality Development (ZfQ), University of Potsdam, which is responsible for organizing activities. In the TrainIQA II ASEAN-QA Workshop, Lenny Rosita, S.T., M.MT., Head of Institutional Development and Quality Enhancement – Executive Board Office of Universitas Ciputra Surabaya, was invited to participate as an expert and facilitator. The official invitation received by Ms. Lenny reflects international recognition of Universitas Ciputra Surabaya's competence and experience in the development and implementation of higher education quality assurance systems. This involvement demonstrates that Universitas Ciputra Surabaya is part of the international Quality Assurance practitioner community that contributes to the development of cross-border QA practices.

The TrainIQA II ASEAN-QA Workshop was attended by participants from various countries in the ASEAN region, such as Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Timor-Leste. Participants came from diverse backgrounds and roles within their institutions, ranging from quality assurance managers and academic leaders to quality development support staff. Through group discussion sessions and practical activities, participants were guided by instructors to design quality improvement projects relevant to the context of their respective institutions. In Workshop II, participants were asked to present the progress of their respective projects since March 2025.

“Survey Design in Quality Assurance: How to Formulate Questions” was one of the important sessions in Workshop II, presented by Ir. Prof. Dr. Rajkumar Durairaj from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Malaysia, with Ms. Lenny Rosita acting as Madam Chair for the session. This session discussed the role of surveys as a strategic tool in Quality Assurance, particularly in supporting data-driven decision-making and continuous quality improvement. Participants in this session learned that quality inspection surveys are not merely data collection tools, but also research tools that must be designed systematically with clear objectives, structured questions, and appropriate analysis plans. Discussions and practical exercises focused on the principles of good question design, such as the use of neutral language, clarity of context, and avoidance of bias and assumptions.

The involvement of Universitas Ciputra Surabaya in the TrainIQA II ASEAN-QA Workshop strengthens the institution's position in higher education quality assurance on the international stage. Through its active role as a trainer and session moderator, Universitas Ciputra Surabaya contributes to the exchange of best practices, capacity building in QA, and the development of a global perspective in higher education quality management. This participation is expected to have a sustainable impact on strengthening the internal Quality Assurance system at Universitas Ciputra Surabaya, while also reinforcing Indonesia's role in international forums for the development of higher education quality assurance in the ASEAN region.
