On December 13, the Food Technology (FTP) study program at Ciputra University held an open house event for FTP as part of the UC Play program. This event became an interactive platform for prospective students, especially high school students, to deepen their understanding of the academic environment, learning activities, and innovative works created by FTP students.
As part of this program, FTP students admitted in 2024 organised a commercial product exhibition to showcase commercial products based on food entrepreneurship that they had developed as part of their study program. The products offered included tea bombs, sweet potato chocolates, powdered sambal mata masala, nut-based milk, and orange wine. Each product was developed with a focus on innovation, added value, and market appeal.
Thanks to the “gallery visit” concept, the students had the opportunity to directly explain to their visitors their ideas for products, content, unique selling proposition, and target markets. This type of approach fostered a dynamic interactive exchange between the students and the participants of UC Play, particularly the high school students involved. Visitors could see the displayed products, taste them, and provide direct feedback.
The main objective of this event was to gather feedback from high school students, who are the potential consumers of tomorrow. The feedback collected should help evaluate and improve the product from the perspective of taste, appearance, and commercial concept. Moreover, this activity helped students develop the necessary skills to understand product presentation, communication, and the real market.
In summary, the open days on FTP and UC Play offered practical learning experiences for students and turned into an engaging educational experience for participants, including high school students. This event reflects the Faculty of School of Culinary Food Technology and Tourism at Ciputra University’s commitment to integrating academic learning with entrepreneurship from the early stages
